YOGYAKARTA – The Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Archives have been nominated the best national archives among universities’. The event was held by the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) on 17 August in Jakarta. As many as 20 Universities’ Archives competed in the event. UGM ranked first, followed by UNS and Universitas Udayana, Bali.
Head of UGM Archives, Dra. Rr. Tristiana Chandra Dewi Trias Iriani, S.IP., M.Si., said the award would motivate archivists to give better services. “This award is an appreciation to us, also motivates us to keep making achievements,” she said on Thursday(27/8) in her office.
According to Dewi, the criteria for the event included management, guidelines, institutional status, and infrastructure and facilities.
“We were also asked to give a presentation on the developments of our unit,” she said.
One of UGM archivists, Zaenuddin, said it was not easy for them to maintain tens of thousands of archives amidst the documenting technologies that keep changing. The UGM unit tackles this problem by providing additional facilities to store and maintain the archives.
