Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has enhanced cooperation with telecommunications state enterprise PT. Telkom Tbk. The company’s Human Capital Management Director, Herdy Rosardi Harman, made a visit to UGM on Friday (12/2) and was received by Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati., M.Sc., Ph.D.
The Rector said many alumni of UGM work at Telkom. She conveyed that presently the work market required graduates not only with good academic output but also adaptable to their environment.
“Not only good GPA, but also communication and character have to be qualified,” said Dwikorita.
Seeing this need, UGM has equipped its students with academic and non-academic abilities, such as socio-entrepreneurship and leadership. Creativity of UGM students is also strengthened through the Student Community Service (KKN).
“Innovation of UGM students continued to be developed. For example, the outcomes of Student Community Service projects are published on social media,” she said.
On the other side, Herdy Rosardi Harman, agreed with the measures taken by UGM in preparing its students for the work market. Telkom also pays attention to non-academic aspects when they recruit new staff.
“There should be new values that they have, such as their involvement in campus activities and society, also other non-academic achievements,” said Herdy.
According to Herdy, graduate’s interest in working at Telkom is quite high, including from UGM. There were as many as 28 thousands applicants last year of which only 300 were accepted.
