Universitas Gadjah Mada inaugurated as many as 1,802 graduates and associate experts, consisting of 1,521 graduates of bachelor degree and 281 diplomas from Vocational School at Grha Sabha Pramana on Wednesday (17/2). The average study time for the bachelor program is 4 years and 8 months. As for vocational school is 3 years and 8 months and for the average study for Diploma 4 is 4 years and 3 months. The shortest study time for bachelor is achieved by Adellia Agusta from International Relations Department, Social and Political Sciences, who graduates within 3 years 2 months and 16 days. While the shortest for Diploma graduate is achieved by Wahyu Saputra of the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation, Vocational School, who completed the study within 2 years and 4 months.
The title of the youngest graduate is achieved by Raihan Pasha Isheka of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, who graduated at the age of 19 years 9 months and 24 days old. Meanwhile, the youngest graduate of diploma program is achieved by Diah Asmorowati of Accounting, Vocational School, who managed to become Associate Expert at the age of 20 years 7 months and 20 days old. Meanwhile, Yehezkiel Steven Kurniawan from Chemistry study programme at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics completed his study in 3 years 4 months 27 days.
Average Grade Point Average (GPA) for bachelor’s degree at this graduation is 3.29. While the average GPA for diploma level is 2.97, as for the D4 program 3.21. Highest GPA for undergraduate programs is achieved by Tia Rosana Ratna Sari, Faculty of Law, who earned a GPA of 4.00. While the highest GPA for the Diploma program is Listiana Putri Wajarwati, Forest Management in Vocational School with a 3.87 GPA.
Rector, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., in her speech congratulated the graduates who have successfully completed their studies. “The process that you go through during the course is not easy, many trials and challenges you faced during the study. But you can pass all of those challenges, thanks to your struggle and parents,” she said.
On that occasion, the Rector invited the graduates to always be grateful for all that has been achieved and the need to improve the knowledge and skills. “(You) Must be able to improve the competitiveness and endurance, it turns out that the most important of survival skill is endurance. If one fails, get up and move forward again,” she explained.
According to Rector, challenges faced by the graduates today is competing with foreign workers as the Asean Economic Community (AEC) is already enacted starting on January 1, 2016. “Excellent and reliable competitiveness are needed to win the competition in this AEC era,” she concluded.
