Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., confirmed that the Single Tuition Mechanism (UKT) year 2016 remains the same with that in previous year. She made the statement during the National Education Day celebration on 2 May, adding that the students had been informed of the decision on 29 April during a dialogue with university leadership.
The Rector explained that since 28 April 2016 there is no advance fee for new students getting admitted through independent mechanism. Further mechanism on the Single Tuition and nomenclature will follow. “This can be based on considerations such as parents’ salary or number of family members,” she said.
Consideration is still being made on suggestion for no single tuition for students on semester 8 and above, D3 and Profession programmes. The UGM Rectorate will liase with Faculties on the policy. “A Rector’s Decree will follow. Meanwhile, review of Single Tuition is further done to better manage the arrangement,” added Dwikorita. She said to seek for other funding sources to replace the former Funding Assistance for Academic Achievement.
Meanwhile, on performance allowance for non-teaching staff, the Rector explained that on 26 April a meeting was held between all state universities that have legal entities with Research, Technology, and Higher Learning Ministry on the proposal to amend the Presidential Regulation No.138/2015 in order that such staff receive performance allowance.
“If not revised, the disbursement of performance allowance may disadvantage the state budget. UGM is also designing a performance incentive system,” she said.
On the plan to relocate the canteen of Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Dwikorita explained that for the time being vendors were located at the Pusat Jajan Lembah (Pujale) area whilst waiting for the new location at the Faculty. The Rectorate, Deans’ offices of Socio-Humanities Faculties as well as students will devise the SOP soon.
