Pancasila state ideology as a value and order of value cannot stand alone. It has to be founded by humans. Like a picture, Pancasila is the frame.
“The main frame is constitutional in nature, second, the morality frame is the state administrator, and third, immunity frame against intervention to state’s major nationhood pillars,” said KH. Hasyim Muzadi, the country’s noted cleric, in the Senate Hall of UGM on Wednesday (1/6) during the 8th Pancasila Congress.
Hasyim Muzadi said the power of Pancasila lies not in the text and meaning of the ideology but the balance between heterogeneous powers in Indonesia. If swinging towards the left, the right will create uproars, and vice versa.
“For example, when an act of terrorism occurs, the real Pancasila and the leftist are outraged, when a communism emerges, the real Pancasila and the right wing react. So, it is in the reactive balance of that harmony lies the power of Pancasila,” said the member of Presidential Advisory Board.
Separately, Prof. dr. Sutaryo, Sp.A(K)., expert from Centre for Pancasila Studies UGM, said to get a state foundation that can unite the nation has to explore that foundation down to the core. Pancasila has to be extracted from the essence of Indonesian personality.
“Pancasila is therefore suitable for Indonesia; Pancasila as a static table, a guiding star to reach a prosperous society materially and spiritually,” he said.
Another speaker who is former cabinet minister, Dr. Ir. Siswono Yudo Husodo., said he had seen crisis of trust among citizens due to the condition where politics were used as a means to fight over power rather than to make people prosper.
“If this happens continously, it will create moral decadence. So, it is our duty to improve that morality,” he said.
