UGM and Yogyakarta Provincial Attorney’s Office agreed to cooperate in the handling of legal issues in the field of civil and state administration. The cooperation agreement was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Rector, Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Deputy Attorney, Sampe Tuah, SH, Thursday (2/6) in the Meeting Room of Main Office of UGM.
Representing the Chief Attorney, Sampe Tuah said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a meaningful event for the UGM and Provincial Attorney’s Office, especially in the field of civil law and state administration for UGM. Therefore, their office is working to solve various problems in the fields of civil and state administration submitted by UGM.
Sampe Tuah said the prosecutor’s office as a law enforcement agency has a role to support the success of governance and national development in the central and local levels. This is done through protection and security, both in the planning and implementation of activities, including efforts to prevent irregularities and losses to the country.
“The cooperation is expected to bring positive results in the resolution of civil and state administration cases especially at UGM,” he said when delivering his speech.
Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati expressed her gratitude for openness and trust from the Attorney’s office to implement this cooperation. Dwikorita hopes this cooperation can support UGM’s step in seeking the sovereignty of science and technology in Indonesia.
“We are currently focusing on the research which can produce products that can be directly utilized by the public and industry,” she explained.
The downstreaming of research, Rector said, continued to be encouraged in order to improve the competitiveness of domestic products.It is also expected to reduce dependence on foreign products. She pointed out in the health field, 97.2% of medical equipment that are used in Indonesia are imported while actually, these tools can be developed and produced in the country.
“Actually, we can create it by ourselves, but we are stucked with the procedures and regulations. Therefore, we ask for help from the Attorney’s office to guide UGM’s steps to not commit violations in implementing ,” she said.
Dwikorita hopes that this cooperation can run smoothly and provide benefits for both parties, especially in efforts to accelerate the nation’s progress.
