UGM Expo 2016 will be held from 20 to 25 September 2016. This event is a part of the celebrations of the 67th UGM anniversary. The Expo’s committee chairman, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Raharjo, M.Sc., said that UGM EXPO was designed as a process of knowledge sharing so that all units in UGM would be able to show their works in the field of education, research and community service.
“With this Expo, we intend to introduce them (the products) to the stakeholders,” said Sri Raharjo, Monday (19/9).
He added that this year Expo which is themed Innovation for the Nation, would take place from 9:00 to 17:00 hours GMT. It is expected to be able to share UGM works as to increase the competitiveness of the nation.
Sri Raharjo said UGM EXPO 2016 is organized as thematic-based that represents the diversity of the fields of education, research and community service. The Expo, said Sri Raharjo, consisted of Science and Techno Park Zone, Energy Zone, Health Zone, Food Sovereignty Zone, Maritime Zone, Good Governance Zone, Social Cultural Zone, Disaster and Environment Zone, Supporting Zone and Market Place Zone.
“There will also be scientific, educational, and training activities as well as fun games activities,” he said.
According to Sri Raharjo, UGM innovation through the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi principle is one of the valuable resources in bringing the latest ideas and creativity for the betterment of the nation. Therefore, university is required to always coming up with breakthroughs both in resource and governance systems that can provide benefits to the community, in order to achieve sovereignty in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy, and personality in culture.
“This will all be achieved if UGM is able to instill strong roots in the community and able to communicate their creative ideas to the society. One of the efforts is through the UGM Expo,” he concluded. (UGM /adelily)
