The national movement called 1000 Digital Startup National Movement has reached its second ignition stage on Sunday (18/9) in Yogyakarta. The movement is formed to bring Indonesia into The Digital Energy of Asia in 2020. The movement initiated by the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia would create 1000 startup companies as a solution to various problems in Indonesia through the use of digital technology. In cooperation with KIBAR, participants of the 1000 Digital Startup National Movement would be given capacity enhancement, mentoring and incubation in various cities in Indonesia.
In the second stage of ignition, the seminar was divided to five sessions with different themes for each session. In each session, participants were trained by startup experts, namely Andri Yadi (CEO of DyCode, the creator of the Movreak and snap app), Alamanda Shantika Santoso (Vice President of Technology Product Go-Jek), Leonika Sari (Chief Executive of Reblood), Alfatih Timur (Chief Executive Officer of Kitabisa.com), and many other speakers.
Andri in the first session encouraged participants to build a startup in earnest, not half-hearted or simply following trend. Andri also added that entrepreneurship is a way of life, not merely pursuing wealth.
“If your aim is just to enrich yourself, you have to be prepared to be disappointed,” said Andri.
In line with Andri, Reblood was also started due to the problems of blood donors in Indonesia. The need for blood in various regions in Indonesia is very high, but availability is inadequate. Leonika took Surabaya as an example of an area with most donors, but it has not been able to get enough blood for its own territory, let alone other areas. Leonika added that if we keep counting every minute there are 10 people who need blood, but three of them do not get it. Therefore, Leonika established Reblood, an application created to increase public awareness of blood donation in Indonesia. “Start from “why” to seek a solution, not what,” said Leonika.
Similar thing was delivered by Alfatih or often called Timi, founder of kitabisa.com. The number of social activities for disaster and other types of problem triggered him to form kitabisa.com. Donation activities held by college students are often ignored by donors. Transparency of the fund is one of many factors that leaves donors in doubt. Donation activities carried out in the streets with a box are unreliable according to the donors. Therefore Timi made kitabisa.com for donation activities in various fields.
“With Kitabisa.com those in need of donations can be assisted and donors have no need to worry about its transparency,” said Tim.
To become a problem solver is the goal of startup. Alamanda, one of the people behind the success of Go-Jek also revealed her success. “My highest success was not a time when Go-Jek received millions of dollars investment, but when I see Go-Jek drivers using the Go-Jek app and driving their passengers to get income so the drivers can support their family at home,” said Alamanda.
According to Alamanda, the success of Go-Jek is being able to support 250,000 drivers in all regions of Indonesia. “If Go-Jek is able to support 250,000 people in Indonesia, the establishment of 1000 startups should be able to help 250 million people in Indonesia,” said Alamanda.
