Medical lecturer from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Dr.dr. Veronika Ika Budiasturi, M.Pd., has earned a doctorate degree from UGM Medicine and Health sciences study programme.
In her doctoral promotion on Thursday (24/8) at Faculty of Medicine UGM, Veronika defended dissertation themed Factor of Epistemological Belief in Problem Based Learning. Her promoters are Prof.Dr.Dra. Amtiya Kumara, M.Si., and co-promoters Prof.dr. Sri Suparyati Soenarto, Sp.A (K)., Ph.D., dan dr. Rr.Titi Savitri.P., MA.M.Med.Ed., Ph.D.
Veronika made research of 18 medical students of UNS with epistemological belief of mature and naive when doing tutorial discussion. It showed that there are differences in the depictions showed by the students with the belief of naive epistemology in the process of an PBL tutorial discussion.
“There are also differences between depiction of motivation and student perception towards the tutor in both the student groups,” she said.
In her views, these differences emerged due to different maturity epistemology level of the students. It showed that the student with mature epistemology belief is more suitable to the PBL system.
