Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM and Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesian acronym: KAGAMA) held UGM Literary and Arts Awarding Night 2017. The winners of the Literature and Arts UGM 2017 competition were announced in the event. Aside from the winners’ announcement, the event was also enlivened by the cultural speech by a writer, Prof. Dr. Budi Darma, M.A. and a poetry reading which entitled Kedung Darma Romansha. The awarding night which was held on Friday (10/11) also presented Goro-Goro Diponegoro performance by Mantradisi art group, Voice of Citizen, and Rampoe UGM.
There are six categories in the Literary and Arts competition which are literary criticism, meme, photography, short-movie, short-story, and poems. The first winner of literary criticism is achieved by Sun Lie Thomas Alexander with his work entitled Stopping in Lampuki (Aceh Conflict in Black Comedy Dressing), the runner-up position is earned by Yusri Fajar whose work entitled Tragedy of Lapindo Mudflow: Human Suffering and Natural Degradation in the Poems by F. Azia Manna, while the third winner is achieved by Asef Saeful Anwar whose work entitled Chinese-Javanese Relationship in the Chinese Princess Novel.
There are only two winners in the meme category. The second winner is achieved by Rina Mariana whose meme entitled Our Love is Like Indonesia and the third winner is earned by Wisnu Wardhani whose meme entitled Hompipa. Meanwhile, the first winner of photography category is achieved by Firmansyah Bin Mamat Rahmat Dam with his work entitled Untitled. The second winner is earned by Lannang Kurnia Jati whose photo entitled Inheriting Tradition, Arranging Next Generation, while the third winner is achieved by Hana Dewi Pratiwi whose work entitled Warm and Love.
The first winner of short movie category is achieved by Fauzan Ahmad Hardono whose movie entitled Sumbu Pendek. The runner-up position is earned by Damianus Roni Febriawan with his movie entitled Jejak, while the third winner is achieved by Try Kurnia Sari with her movie entitled Darno. On the other hand, the first winner of the short-story category is achieved by Wahyu Budi Utomo with his story entitled Warok Saimun. The second winner is earned by Dhenok Praptiningrum whose story entitled Kuku Orang Mati and the third winner is achieved by Pinkan Kurnia whose story entitled Kunang-kunang di Tondano. Meanwhile, the first winner of poems category is achieved by Wilfridus Setu Embu with his poem entitled Kurusetra. The runner-up position is earned by Bernando B. Sujibto whose poem entitled Rambipuji and the third winner is achieved by Senja Dewi Utamaningsih with her poem entitled Depan Aerodum (: Requiem).
Dean of Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Dr. Wening Udasmoro, M.Hum., DEA. Said the civilization is started by literature and arts. According to Wening, the brain and feeling create literature.
One of the winners in literary criticism category, Sun Lie, delivered his appreciation towards this event. According to Sun Lie, This competition becomes one of the ways to appreciate the literary writers. In line with Sun’s statement, Senja Dewi Utamaningsih, the winner of poems category also delivered her high appreciation towards this competition which was held by Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM and KAGAMA. Senja hopes this kind of event can be held by UGM in the next years.
