Universitas Gadjah Mada is affirmed to be the best university in Indonesia by 4 International College and Universities (4ICU). Meanwhile, UGM is placed at the 3rd position in the Southeast Asian region and the 51st position in the Asian region.
The university ranking made by 4ICU shows the reflection of the universities’ popularity based on its website. The ranking was done using an algorithm from five different web metrics from four independent search engines, including Moz Domain Authority, Alexa Global Rank, SimilarWeb Global Rank, Majestic Referring Domains, as well as Majestic Trust Flow.
“This ranking shows UGM’s popularity both from the number of its website’s visitors and the number of access towards sites under ugm.ac.id domain,” said the Director of System and Information Resources, Widyawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., on Monday at UGM campus.
Widyawan said daily page views to all domains at ugm.ac.id reached 1.3 million while daily visitors were up to 360 thousand.
According to Widyawan, those achievements could be obtained not only because of the good website or interesting view as well as navigation which gives convenience to its visitors but also its qualified and relevant content and information.
In addition, it is supported by appropriate infrastructure, thus the response to UGM’s website is fast. Since 2017, UGM has provided big capacity bandwidth, which is 5 Giga-byte.
“With appropriate information technology infrastructure, rich content, and big bandwidth, those give convenience to the community in accessing the various digital contents of UGM,” said Widyawan.
The 4ICU ranking was made through assessment of 13,000 universities in the world. The participants came from universities which have been recognized, licensed, and accredited by the Ministry of Education in each country, having undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as using a face-to-face method in the learning process.
