Students’ team from UGM succeeded to earn an award in Thailand Inventor’s Day which was held from February 2- 6, 2018 in Thailand.
During the event entitled Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition, UGM team earned a gold medal and special award from Poland.
The team consisting of Sahala Wahyu Wardana and Ema Nur Afifah from Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences as well as Kharirotul Suhaila and Rasyidin Caniago from Faculty of Agriculture succeeded to earn the award by developing a platform called kolamkita.com.
Kolamkita.com is a platform that is developed using an aquaculture modern technology which functions to increase the production of freshwater fish sector in Indonesia. It has three main services, which are valid and updated freshwater fish farming information system, providing fish farming needs and packages, as well as providing post-harvest fish marketing services.
Suhaila said the development of kolamkita.com was initiated from the concern of the team members regarding the fish farming issue in Indonesia. Many people want to do fish farming, however, they are still confused due to the lack of knowledge in fish farming.
“In addition, other issues are farming field and post-harvest marketing,” said Suhaila on Wednesday (7/2).
Those issues encouraged Sahala and his colleagues to develop a platform to address various issues regarding fish farming.
“In this platform, we provide all things to fulfill the needs for fish farming, starting from farming information, fishpond construction, fish seeds, feed, up to marketing the fish farming products,” said Suhaila.
Suhaila said kolamkita.com was currently being developed. The platform will be launched in the middle of 2018.
