Faculty of Animal Science UGM started the construction of Animal Science Learning Center (ASLC) building to support academic community research at the Faculty.
The building will have facilities such as discussion room, dissemination room, reference room, and integrated laboratory. The building is a 6,105.04 square meter, five-floor building and a semi-basement to be equipped with specific facilities to support the development of animal sciences. The construction is done under a cooperation with JICA.
Dean of Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof.Dr.Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., said the construction of ALSC had been planned since 12 years ago. “It’s surely a pride and happiness to finally make this dream come true,” he said on Friday (18/10) during the groundbreaking event on campus.
Ali Agus extended appreciation to the university that had supported to realise the plan. This was expected to help achieve the Faculty’s target in expanding the number of students and education quality of the graduate programme in addition to increasing the number of writings being published in international journals, and research based community service.
Vice-Rector of Human Resource and Asset, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Agus Kironoto, expressed his hopes that after construction, the ASLC building would be used optimally to disseminate research outcomes and to serve as an integrated lab. The building is one of 10 centres at UGM to be constructed under a cooperation with JICA.
At the end of 2018, UGM started the construction of 10 new buildings in eight faculties and 1 school with loans from JICA worth around Rp1 Trillion. Apart from the ASLC, those are Faculty of Pharmacy to build Advanced Pharmaceutical Science Learning Center, Faculty of Law: Law Learning Center, Faculty of Dentistry: Dentistry Learning Center, Faculty of Forestry: Integrated Farming Learning Center, and Faculty of Agriculture: Agriculture Learning Center. Besides, Faculty of Engineering is to build Smart Green Learning Center and Engineering Research and Innovation Center while Vocational School is to build Teaching Industry Learning Center as well as Field Research Center in Kulon Progo.
