UGM dispatched more students for Student Community Service (KKN-PPM UGM) projects on Saturday (21/12) at the courtyard of Community Service Directorate UGM. As many as 892 students from 19 Faculties of UGM would serve in rural areas for two months from 21 December 2019 – 8 February 2020.
Prof. Ir. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada, M.Eng., Ph.D., Community Service Director, said the students who were divided into 36 units would be assigned to 9 provinces and 22 regencies across Indonesia.
According to Irfan, each of the unit would have its own theme of project. The students would carry out their work based on these themes. Some of the themes focus on rural potential development whether in health, tourism, agriculture, economy, and social empowerment. Irfan asked the students to always keep the honour of the university by giving dedication and making good achievements on the site. “Your success is a pride for UGM,” he said.
Similarly, Vice-Rector of Research and Community Service, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., asked the students to be humble and learn from anyone in the village. “Their life might be richer than ours, so make that an inspiration for your next step,” she concluded.
