Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) students won the Semar Infographics Competition 2020, which took place from 5-7 March 2020 at UNS.
The Otter team consisting of Amannia Rachmadiva O (Information Technology) and Adityadika M. K (Electrical Engineering), they got hold of the champion by carrying out the work entitled “The Young, Who Invests.” The work is an infographic that presents the theme of investment.
Adityadika explained that Indonesia set a new record number of capital market investors in 2019 of 2.48 million Single Investor Identification (SID). This number includes stock investors, mutual funds, and debt securities. The amount is ten times greater than the target set by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) of 250,000 SID. The development in the number of investors was due to the constant socialization and trimming SID registration flow by the IDX.
“It’s interesting to know that millennial investors aged 21-30 years dominate the capital market, reaching 44.62 percent of the total number of investors,” he explained on Friday (3/4).
According to him, this is in line with the positive growth of the number of millennial investors compared to other generations. Although the value of assets is smaller than in different ages, this indicates that Indonesia has a bright future in capital market investment.
“As a young generation or millennial, we can also participate in helping to build the economy and advance the country by investing, you know! There are many types of investment options to choose from,” he explained.
He explained that investing for individuals has a variety of benefits, including increased personal assets, assuring financial stability, preparing for the future, and avoiding inflation. While for the country, it will reduce unemployment, advance the state in the long run, and increase income per capita and GDP.
