For the first time in a while, Indonesia’s International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) held National Congress XXVI. This event was held for eight days and raised the theme entitled “Empowering Ecopreneurship in Sustaining Local Resources for The Global Competition Era”. According to Hana Anjelina, a 2019 batch student from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology and a committee member, this theme aimed to foster an entrepreneurial enthusiasm based on the environment for the sustainability of local resources to encounter the era of global competition. She also stated that in this first opportunity, this event should run attractively and effectively.
“National Congress or Natcon is an annual event of IAAS Indonesia that gathers 11 local committee universities,” he said on Friday (12/3).
She also explained the details of the event that was going on successfully from January 30th until February 6th, 2021. On the first day, they organized a workshop by Vooya dan Evo & Co. Besides, there were also some insights and motivations to strengthen their future preparation regarding environmental-based entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, from day two till day seven of the event, there would be a general assembly where their aspirations were collected to develop the critical thinking of IAAS members. On day eight, each IAAS LC presented eco-friendly origin products from regions as a form of environmental concern. Those were potentially attractive to proceed to the business level.
“Furthermore, after the event, the delegation also went for virtual sightseeing to see culinary and tours in Yogyakarta. And they were quite pleased,” she said.
She added information that the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences (IAAS) is the largest global organization engaged in agriculture and related sciences. It has members that were spread up in more than 50 countries, one of which is Indonesia.
“IAAS is dedicated to providing their member’s skills needed in facing the global future, especially in the field of agriculture,” she stated.
