Globalization is an important phenomenon in this century. The rapid development of information and communication technology has allowed the establishment of cooperation and integration between countries. Southeast Asia and East Asia are two dynamic regions and have a large potential for cooperation that is still to be developed. However, both region have different perspective, and this difference is a challenge that is need to be understood and studied through various dialogue.
Based on that consideration, the Laboratory for Globalization Studies (LSG) of International Relationship (HI) Department of UGM will held an international seminar entitled “Political Economy of Globalization: East and Southeast Asian Perspectives†on Monday June 22nd 2009. The event will be held at the University Club (UC) UGM on 08.00-11.00 a.m.
The speakers for the international seminar are Prof. Amien Rais, Senior Professor of International Relationship Department of UGM, Prof. Lee Chun-Hee, the Dean of Social Faculty of Hankuk University for Foreign Studies of South korea, and General Secretary of ASEAN Dr. Surin Pitsuwan.
The International Seminar is the start of “International Symposium on Globalization†events series. Call for papers will be done from July to September 2009 and the peak of the event will be on October 8th 2009.
