“This will allow highest decision making in technical veterinary health based on veterinary professionalism,†said the Dean of the Faculty, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Dr. drh. Bambang Sumiarto, S.U., M.Sc., and his counterpart from IPB, Dr. I Wayan T. Wibawan, M.S., D.V.M., representing other Deans, Thursday evening (29/10). Also attending were the Head of the Indonesian Veterinarians Association (PB PDHI), Drh. Wiwiek Bagja, and a member of the Veterinarian Education Council, Prof Dr. drh. Agus Lelana, in the Auditorium of the Faculty.
“The Government needs this Deputy Minister for the betterment of agriculture, i.e animal products, and veterinary health,†said drh. Wiwiek Bagja. In her opinion, to protect the community from the threats of Avian Influenza, swine flu, rabies and other cases, a system of structure and authority should be made. This system should be supported by the central leadership down to the regional leadership. “Isn’t it time to increase veterinary capacity to resolve this case?†she was asking.
Students of Agricultural Extension and Communication Department, Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held an expo of student’s work entitled “Kapindho Exhibition†from 24-26 March. In the event taking place at Prof. Ir. Hardjono Danoesastro Auditorium in the Faculty, a number of photos, posters, leaflets, folders and audio-video works are displayed. According to Wahyu Arie Kurniawan, chairman of committee, the event is one of the ways to introduce the Department to Senior High School students and also the public. “Through this event, we want to inform people, particularly High School students, that in our department, they do not only learn agriculture, but also photography and audio-video skills to publish agricultural products,“ he explained on Wednesday (24/3). The chairman added that this expo displayed 59 photos, 20 posters, 15 leaflets, 6 folders and 25 audio-video works. In addition, there are photography and audio-video workshops (24/3), discussion of journalism and publishing management and public speaking training (25/3).Â
