Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., along with university and faculty leadership monitored the implementation of the written entrance test to UGM on Sunday (28/3). They visited two locations, Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Geography.
In Faculty of Agriculture, the Rector monitored the test taken by a blind participant, Rusdiana Ika Normasari (test number 2100105428) who was assisted by someone reading the questions for her. There were five other student candidates in need of special attention. They were Wiku Yulianto (2100104133), who was suffering from dengue fever, Hasna Kharitas Rahmawati (2100100627), who had spinal surgery recently, Farizh Prasetya Adhi (2100100405) and Asep Abdul Rosyad (1100151032) whose legs were broken, and Alusia Ivana Valmai (110010084) who broke her right arm. Alusia did the test in Faculty of Geography UGM. “We are all concerned because they need special attention,†the Rector said.
Relating to scholarships, the Rector said that UGM provides additional scholarships for students from Papua through the Screening of Excellent Students from Regions, part of the 78 students of this program in 60 regions. This program is aimed to create UGM as micro-Indonesia. It also gives opportunities to all social levels to continue studying at UGM. “This program is expected to make education for everyone,†he said.
UGM has formed a special team to deal with possible cheatings and manipulations including students taking the test for others to get money. UGM also sent 100 students to 13 spots to observe the implementation of the test in cooperation with the Regional Police of Yogyakarta. “Since this morning there has been no report of suspicious cases. However, if it happens, we will give strict sanctions,†he added.
Meanwhile, test coordinator, Dr. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, D.E.A., D.E.S.S., said that there were 46,617 participants of the test that was held simultaneously in 13 cities throughout Indonesia such as Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Pekanbaru, Tangerang, Madiun, Semarang, Cirebon, Lhokseumawe, Palembang, Balikpapan, Bandar Lampung, Mataram, and Batam. “From those cities, most took the test in Yogyakarta (24,667) followed by Jakarta (6,355), Pekanbaru (3,309), Tangerang (2,219), Madiun (2,053), Semarang (1991), Cirebon (1,209), Lhokseumawe (1,130), Palembang (1,075), Balikpapan (936) , Bandar Lampung (738), Mataram (514) and Batam 421. They will compete to get one of the 4,000 available seats."Â
According to Budi Prasetyo, the number of participants this year increased than last year by 2,000 candidates. UGM this year plans to accept 7,145 new students of S1 (Undergraduate program). After this test, UGM will still accept 700-800 new students through the National Selection for State University Admission (SNMPTN).
Also monitoring the test were members of UGM’s Board of Trustees, Academic Senate, Professor’s Council, Directors, Head of LPPM, Head of Security Unit and Head of Public Relations and Protocol.
