Faculty of Philosophy and Center for Pancasila Studies of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) plan to hold Cultural Oration and Book Launching in celebration of the 70th birthday of Prof. Dr. Damardjati Supadjar. The birthday celebration of the retired Professor from the Faculty will be hosted on 30 March 2010.
“Prof. Damardjati will celebrate his 70th birthday on 30 March 2010. In light of this occasion, the Center and the Faculty felt it necessary to throw an event to mark the significant moment,†said chairman of the committee, Heri Santoso, S.S., M.Hum., in a release sent out Monday (29/3).
According to Heri, for the Faculty and the Center, Prof. Darmardjati is one of the figures who have dedicated themselves for the development of both institutions. He would not even hesitate to contribute some of his personal funds for the future of the Center. “Especially for the Center, Pak Padjar (as Prof. Damardjati Supadjar is famously called), was happy to deposit his funds and gave the interests to pay the salaries of the staff from the Center in order that it could survive,†Heri remembered.
Despite the small forms of gratitude compared to Pak Padjar’s honourable work, Heri added, both institutions would try to respect him in any way possible. Some programs to be held for the 70th anniversary are the rice-cone traditional ceremony and review of a book entitled “Philospohy, Prof. Dr. Damardjati Supadjar’s Way†on 30 March 2010 at 12.00-14.00 hours. These will be held in Gedung A, Faculty of Philosophy, UGM, presenting Prof. Dr. Damardjati Supadjar himself and the book writer, Heri Santoso, S.S., M.Hum.
On 2 April 2010 at 19.30-21.00 hours, a cultural oration entitled ‘The Belief in the One and Only God and Principle of Good Deeds’ will be presented by the man himself at the hall of Koesnadi Hardjosoemantri Center. After Prof Damardjati’s oration, a leather puppet performance will run throughout the whole night presented by puppeteer Ki Suharno, S.Sn., with a play entitled ’Wahyu Makutharama’.
