Yogya (KU) – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) inaugurated 1,072 graduates of Graduate Program in Inauguration Period III study year 2009/2010. The graduates consist of 1,019 masters, 36 specialists, and 17 doctors. Average length of study was 2 years and 2 months for S-2 degree, 5 years and 3 months for specialist and 5 years for S-3.
The shortest period of Master program was completed by Domingos Cairesi Bendito in Environmental Science who finished his study in 10 months. The fastest, 2 years 5 months, was completed by R.A. Eka Yunanthi in Periodontal Department, Faculty of Dentistry, whilst Kusrini from Computer Sciences Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in S3 program finished it in 3 years 2 months.
The youngest graduate (21 years and 11 months old) in S-2 was Khairul Makhyar Batubara from Faculty of Economics and Business, Master of Accounting Program. The number of Cumlaude graduates was 168 or 16.49%. The highest GPA was also gained by Khairul Makhyar Batubara with perfect grade of 4.00 in 1 year and 2 months. Besides him, there were also 13 other graduates who got GPA 4.00 and cum laude all at once.
UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., in his speech said that UGM has now good reputation at international level. According to the Rector, this will only be meaningful if UGM can contribute much by giving solutions for the national interest and prosperity and if UGM can advocate local excellences to the world.
To gain international reputation, UGM also established partnership with domestic and international institutions. Until now, cooperation and partnership have been made with over 626 institutions such as ministries/boards/state institutions, government of province/regency/city, state-owned enterprises, private companies, universities and other educational institutions and also the private sector. “UGM international cooperation is more than 300 international universities and associations, covering more than 60 countries,†he emphasized.
The Rector suggested the graduates to always uphold UGM moral values that were taught by UGM founding fathers. “Those are of Pancasila and knowledge,†he said. Â
