Yogya (KU) – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Korean University (KU) of Korea opened opportunities of cooperation for research collaboration in bio-technology in the form of exchange of lecturer and student who have interest in bio-technology research. That emerged in the meeting between UGM Senior Vice Rector of Academic, Research, and Community Service, Prof. Dr. Retno S. Sudibyo, M.Sc., Apt., and four bio-technology experts from Korean University, Tuesday (11/5).
The experts were Prof. Chan Wha Kim, Prof. Tae Sung Kim, Prof. Man Baock Gu, and Prof. Hyo Ihl Chang. Also attending the meeting were Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. drh. Bambang Sumiarto, M.Sc., and UGM Executive Secretary, Drs. Djoko Moerdiyanto, M.A. To the press, Bambang Sumiarto conveyed that the four visitors are also managers of master program and bio-technology doctoral program. “They offered Brain Korea 21 (BK21) program that supports the living costs of foreign students to study in Korea,†he said.
The offer was welcomed by UGM and it will be continued by the plan to sign an MoU in the future. Bambang added that he will also offer KU to send its staff and students to UGM. “They were also interested in student and lecturer exchange. Fortunately, they are also attempting to improve the quality of their graduates,†he explained.
UGM bio-technology expert, drh. Yuda Heru Fibrianto, Ph.D., said that the visit of the four experts aimed to meet UGM leadership and to become guest speakers in a symposium entitled Initiative on Biotechnology, Wednesday (12/5) at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine that was held to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Faculty. Â
