Yogya (KU) – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and PT. Bank Mandiri, Tbk., established cooperation to provide students academic payment through banking facility. The payment system will be developed through the host-to-host online system. Students do not need to come to campus to make the payment but just do it online via the Internet, text messaging, or go to all branch offices of Mandiri Bank. The cooperation will enable nine thousands students of UGM to make banking transactions, using the Gama Card.
UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., said that the cooperation projects between the two sides that have been conducted so far cover many fields. One of them is Mandiri’s participation in initiating student entrepreneurship program.
“This cooperation is to strengthen the steps taken to run our respective duties. Many things can be synergized. The latest is the entrepreneurship program initiated by Mandiri where many UGM’s students have opportunities to become successful businessmen,†said Sudjarwadi at UGM Senate Hall, Wednesday (12/5). He added that currently UGM is also initiating cooperation with the Bank to develop special entrepreneurship learning process among UGM students. “The program is expected to make more graduates become entrepreneurs,†he said.
Mandiri Bank’s Director of Commercial and Business, Zulfiki Zaini, emphasized that he welcomed the extension of cooperation with UGM. Particularly, he appreciated UGM for trusting them to give service for the academic community. “We always support financial transaction done at UGM to increase cooperation from time to time,†said Zulkifli.
He mentioned that in early 2010, UGM and Mandiri Bank also conducted credit agreement for the construction of Master of Management campus in Jakarta.
