In improving quality of early childhood education in Indonesia, Faculty of Psychology UGM and Lingkar Pendidikan Inklusif organisation in cooperation with UNA will hold an international seminar and workshop entitled Early Childhood in Multicultural Perspective: Multicultural Approach in Improving the Quality of Early Childhood Program from 17-18 May 2010 at the Faculty.
Drs. Helly P. Soetjipto, chairman of committee, mentioned that the event aims to improve the quality of early childhood education in Indonesia, starting from improving awareness of researchers, decision makers and practitioners of children rights to assist children in building strong self-identity and education of diversity.
Helly said that early childhood education in Indonesia develops rapidly. However, review on its quality has not so much risen, particularly about its influence on building children’s self-identity. “The study is expected to gain recommendation to develop early childhood education learning program in Indonesia,†he explained, Friday 914/5) on UGM campus.
The seminar will present some speakers such as Prof. Paul Connolly (Queen’s University Belfast), Dr. Hamid Muhammad (Directorate General of PNFI, Indonesian Ministry of Education), Dr. Sujarwa (Director of Early Childhood Education, Indonesian Ministry of Education), Prof. Heddy Sri Ahimsa Putra (Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM), Lambang Trijono, M.A. (Center for Conflict Resolution Peace Studies UGM), and Prof. Endang Ekowarni (Faculty of Psychology UGM).
