Yogya (KU) – To improve the quality of human resources, especially in the Faculty of Forestry, Tanoto Foundation and the Faculty of Forestry UGM signed a cooperation on the completion of construction of the Faculty of Forestry’s Administration and Post-Graduate Building.
The signing was done by Sihol Aritonang as Board Chairman and Ratih S. A. Loekito as Program Director, representing the Tanoto Foundation, and the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Prof. Dr. Ir. Moh. Na’iem, M.Agr.Sc., and Vice Dean Dr. Satyawan Pudyatmoko, S.Hut., M.Sc., representing the Faculty, at the Tanoto Foundation office, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/5). Belinda Tanoto, member of the Tanoto Foundation Board of Trustees, also witnessed the signing.
Sihol Aritonang said this cooperation is in accordance with Tanoto Foundation’s vision and mission on education. "After the construction of this building, quality education can be maintained due to the availability of facilities that support learning process and accelerate the process of student affairs services," he said.
He said that the floor area that will be funded by the Tanoto Foundation is 680 m2, worth one billion Rupiah, along with supporting facilities, including halls, corridors, foyer, cafetaria, and a number of administrative rooms, such as personnel office room, academic room, student services room, and computer room. Phase II building construction of the ground floor is expected to finish on August 31, 2010.
UGM welcomes this cooperation very well. Tanoto Foundation also has a longstanding partnership with UGM, among others, by providing scholarships to 237 students of the S-1 and S-2 from various fields of study since 2006, supporting research conducted by Prof. Dr. Ir. S.M. Widyastuti about the Ganoderma mushroom.
