University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) agreed to establish cooperation with the LPP Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI). The cooperation in the field of community and nation service was signed by UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., and Director of LPP RRI, Parni Hardi, in the Multimedia Room, Monday (17/5).
Director of LPP RRI hoped that this cooperation would produce a joint production studio between UGM and RRI such as those already existed in Sabang, Takengon, Oksibil, Seko Jayapura, Lokbakun, and Malinau. "If the program is valued as to serve the people better in the field of animal husbandry and marine sector, someday it will certainly be possible to establish a production studio together. A joint pilot project of RRI and UGM. Why not?" said Parni.
There is another expectation that this cooperation will produce program design to value science. That way, the MoU is no longer RIP (rest in paper). Conversely, both parties could establish small production studios that connect to the entire of Indonesia. "About the place, we will decide later on to broadcast together. It is not needed right away. From the broadcast, RRI and UGM can perform special broadcasts, such as the dialogue of Red and White aspiration. Therefore, let us build the culture-based Indonesia together," he said
Profound meaning of this cooperation, according to Parni Hardi, is not limited to broadcasting, but also to empowering the community. Principle of the cooperation is informing, educating, entertaining, enlightening, and enabling. "Providing information to make people know, educating, entertaining, being educated, and being entertained. “Empowers†is the principle we develop. Embracing the principles of journalism, in the fifth year we focus on radio-based community empowerment. UGM provides the speakers and RRI designs the program, either for local or national broadcasting," he explained.
The Rector also welcomed this cooperation well. Actually, the cooperation between RRI and UGM has been running a long time. The recent cooperation is an extension since UGM and RRI has much in common in terms of vision and mission. "UGM currently has approximately 50 thousand students. RRI has millions listeners, thus it is very beneficial when UGM’s messages can be broadcasted. In this fashion, we feel confident there will be room for improvement of the community progress, prosperity, welfare," he said.
It is in line with the wish of the young lecturers who made the three-in-one formula for the welfare of society, which is the application of the values of UGM, Pancasila, and science to be applied for the sake of civilization, happiness, and prosperity. â€Some young lecturers have applied them in a number of districts in Gunungkidul, Bantul, and Kulonprogo by motivating the community based on those values, so, people work more diligently. Consequently, prosperity will increase by a strong culture. This certainly fits with the ideals of RRI: to be a trendsetter," said the Rector.
