Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng., Ph.D., received the visit made by a delegation from Law Faculty of University of South Carolina (USC), the United States, at UGM Main Office on Thursday (20/5). The delegation was led by Vice Dean for Academic, Prof. Robert M. Wilcox.
UGM Head of International Affairs, Dr. Eng. R. Rachmat A. Sriwijaya, S.T., M.T., said that the visit was a follow-up to the cooperation of double degree program in UGM Faculty of Law. Official cooperation was agreed in 2009. Mentioned in the agreement that graduates of UGM International Undergraduate Program (IUP) starting from Class 2011 will have double degree from UGM and USC.
Rachmat added that the Rector responded positively to the implementation of the double degree program. In his view, the profession in law in the US is a very prestigious one. Therefore, it gave pride for UGM to be able to cooperate with the University of South Carolina. The Rector also hoped that the cooperation in the future would not only be the one with the Law Faculty, but covering all UGM Faculties. Rachmat continued that the USC delegation had previously made a visit to the UGM Faculty of Law to see the teaching-learning process and supporting facilities. They also visited the Sleman District Court to learn Indonesia’s legal proceedings.
