Students of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), were winners of the Japanese Speech Competition for Students in Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces. The event was held at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences on Sunday (16/5). They were Metias Kurnia Dita (first winner), Rida Rohmawati (runner-up), and Sulastriningsih (third winner). Â
In the event under the theme of Actively Speaking Japanese Towards the Globalisation and Competition-Based Future, the three students won over 25 other contenders from Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Diponegoro, and UGM. Okie, committee chairman, said that the winners are entitled to compete in the national competition held by the Japan Foundation in June in Jakarta.
