YOGYAKARTA (KU) – The Alumni Association of Faculty of Biology (Kabiogama) will hold an alumni gathering and 3rd National Congress from 25-26 September 2010 as part of the series of event to celebrate Lustrum XI and 55th Dies Natalis of the Faculty.
According to Secretary I of Central Kabiogama, Dr. Budi S. Daryono, the Congress is a start to establish a communication forum for the alumni where they can discuss various issues. "The Congress will also be made a medium to form the Biology Experts Committee,” said Budi alongside the soft opening of Lustrum XI in the Faculty on Friday (4/6/2010). Budi said that previously, a congress was held repectively in 2000 and 2005. In the next congress, the potentials of biology and alumni capacity will be discussed. So far, there have been many activities conducted by Kabiogama such as fund raising for the earthquake survivors in Yogyakarta and Central Java in 2006. “We also developed the Biological Forestry or other sustainable biological resources,” he said.
Budi explained that at least there are 3,000 alumni of the Faculty in 33 provinces. Until now Kabiogama has branch offices in Semarang, Yogyakarta, Greater Jakarta, Jambi, Solo, and Banyumas. In the future it will be developed in other regions/cities such as Bali, Sumatera, Lampung, and Medan. Apart from alumni gathering and Biology Experts Committee establishment, they will also discuss Kabiogama’s budget and election of head and executive board period 2005-2010.
