Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) received the visit made by Western Micighan University (WMU), the U.S. The delegation led by Dr. Donal G. McCloud was received by UGM Head of Office of International Affairs, Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya, at the Central Office of UGM on Thursday (15/7). Also attending the gathering were Dean of Faculty of Psychology, Prof. Faturochman, Dean of Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. M. Mukhtasar Syamsudin, and Director of CRCS UGM, Dr. Zainal Abidin Bagir.
Dr. Rachmat Sriwijaya said that the visit was their first official visit. Both discussed various forms of cooperation that can be implemented in the future, including students and lecturers exchange, joint dual degree, and research development with Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy and CRCS. “WMU wished to establish partnership with UGM as they viewed that UGM is an important partner. UGM has various disciplines," he explained.
Rachmat said that WMU also offered English language training for students and lecturers who want to continue their study there. "Those who want continue study abroad are required to have a minimum score of 550 in TOEFL test. This program opens wide opportunity for students and lecturers with 450 TOEFL scores to study at Michigan University. They will be given intensive training to improve their English," he explained.
He added that the Dean of Faculty of Psychology also offered cooperation in the development of cross-cultural psychology, indigenous psychology and teaching staff. The Dean of Faculty of Philosophy opened cooperation opportunities in Indonesian philosophy while CRCS in the development of double degree for S2 and S3 programs in religious study.
