YOGYAKARTA- Another prestigious achievement was made by a UGM libarian, Purwoko,S.I.P., fro, Geology Department Library, Faculty of Engineering. Purwoko came second best in the National Selection of Academicians with National Achievement 2010 held in Jakarta from 12-14 July 2010.
According to Head of UGM Library, Drs Ida Fajar Priyanto, M.A., Purwoko beat other librarians from UI, ITS, ITB and IPB. The first winner was Diao Ai Lin, Ph.D (Unika Atmajaya Jakarta) and third Mahfut Aslam (University of Jember).
Ida Fajar added that in the competition held by the Higher Learning Directorate General, the achievement of UGM librarian was higher than that in 2009, in which Sri Rumani won third place.
Ida said that Purwoko’a success in the competition was caused by several factors. He had developed library softwares in the past 5 years that has been used nationally. Purwoko also regularly gives training to local librarians.
“He has many articles published in the papers. Also, he developed softwares for national use," Ida, who was one of the panel of judges, said.
“Purwoko is progressive, he even beat his competitors who have S2 degrees," he said. Other member of judges were Luki Wijayanti (UI), Joner Hasigian (USU), Aditya Nugraha (Petra), Endang Ernawati (BINUS) and Ratna Juwita (UI). Awards were presented Thursday night (15/7) at Sahid Hotel Jakarta.
