Mapala Silvagama of Faculty of Forestry UGM from 5 – 8 August, 2010 organized an event entitled Wanagama Rally XI. The event in the form of environmental education and forest exploration contest was followed by 108 participants from 30 high schools/vocational schools in Central Java and Yogyakarta, each divided into two categories of boys and girls. The participants follow a series of activities in three places, namely the Faculty of Forestry UGM, Yogyakarta Nature Conservation Foundation, and the Education Forest Wanagama I Gunung Kidul.
The Wanagama Rally XI event was opened by Vice-Dean of Research, Student Business Development and Alumni, Dr. Satyawan Pudyatmoko, S. Hut, M.Sc. The opening ceremony was continued with a talk show entitled Introduction to Forests in Indonesia. This interesting talkshow presented three speakers, namely Dr. Ir. Haryadi MBA, MM (Secreatary at Directorate General of PHKA), Rahmanta (JAVLEC) and Ir. Soewarno Hasanbasri, MS (UGM lecturer) moderator Siti Nurul Rofiqo SP.M., Irwan Agr. PhD,. lecturer at the Faculty of Forestry.
"The discussion was very interesting and quite made the participants enthusiastic. Many questions were raised by the participants, making the talkshow interesting," Setyawan Pudyatmoko explained. In the end of the talk show, a closing statement was made, stressing the importance of forests and environmental improvement in Indonesia. This can be started from the little things locally. "In the meantime, the Wanagama Rally event can be used as a trigger for these improvements," said Siti Nurul Rofiqo.
Afterwards, the committee invited the participants to the Yogyakarta Conservation of Nature Foundation (YKAY) in Kulonprogo. In this place they were informed about the “Wildlife Introductory." This activity was very impressive because most of the participants were introduced about the concept of wildlife conservation. Participants ended the Wanagama Rally XI in the Wanagama Education Forest where they were given materials about the concept of forest conservation.
