Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., received the visit made by the Manager of International Office, Simon Watson and Dean of the Graduate School, Nicky Solomon, from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), on Friday (13/8).
UGM Deputy Head of International Affairs Office, Dra. Rio Rini Diah Moehkardi, MA., said the visit was a follow-up of the cooperation agreement previously. One of them is to explore possibilities of cooperation to send UTS students to gain knowledge and experience at UGM in the form of short courses for 2-3 weeks.
"Now that they have the Asian Region program, their students visited several universities in Asia. They have tried to send 10 students to India to study micro-finance," she said.
In response to that subject matter, the UGM Rector responded positively to implement the cooperation that is offered, especially that UGM already has the DREAM program that also covers micro-finance. "They are enthusiastic to participate in this program," Rio Rini said.
The Rector also told much about the programs that have been conducted by UGM on an international scope. In addition, the Rector also promoted the plan to hold the international conference on local wisdom at UGM in November. Nicky Solomon also said the university is also currently negotiating with the Higher Education Directorate General, Indonesian Ministry of National Education about the scholarships for Indonesian students to continue their post-graduate studies at UTS. "The plan is that Higher Education Directorate General will provide scholarships for students of the first phase of release. For the second stage, the students will be given free tuition," he explained.
After meeting with the Rector, the UTS delegation met with representatives from various UGM faculties and presented various post-graduate programs offered at UTS.
