JOGJAKARTA (KU) – Universitas Gadjah Mada, again, inaugurated 1634 graduates of undergraduate program on Thursday (19/8). The average study period in the graduation this time is 4 years and 6 months. The shortest study period, 3 years 4 months, has been completed by Erfa Anuuri from Faculty of Psychology. The youngest graduate is Pratika Sari Anungputri from Faculty of Medicine, who managed to be Bachelor of Medicine at the age of 19 years 11 months and 5 days.
This time as many as 330 graduates (23.97%) passed cumlaude. The highest GPA, 4.00, was gained by Ulya Niami Efrina Jamson from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
"The success you get today was started with the learning process before college. UGM’s duty is to continue the sustainable learning and bring you to this event today," said the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., in his speech in Grha Sabha Pramana.
The Most Comprehensive
The Rector conveyed that UGM is the most comprehensive university in Indonesia. Therefore, UGM continually strives to always be an inspiration in contributing to the nation by inaugurating candidates of qualified leaders. "UGM strives to produce graduates who are not only qualified in scientific fields, but also have outstanding leadership skills, high entrepreneurial spirit, and good morals," he said.
In professional careers, the Rector said that UGM also expected that graduates are not only able to maintain the good name of the alma mater, but also continuously develop the ability with the principle of lifelong learning. Regarding Indonesia’s current and future contexts, the global business moves will influence and present various complexities in terms of privatization and liberalization. "The challenge is not easy, because the economic process and global business are influenced by political processes, education and various complex and dynamic non-sectoral parameters," he explained.
In addition, the Rector said that the alumni can play important roles as trend setter of deregulation that obviously continue to go to find shape that is oriented on ideals of prosperity, security, prosperity and justice. "UGM expects its graduates to be consistently oriented to the scientific principles developed by the University, that is for refinement, utility, and happiness of mankind, and follow the University’s vision for the benefit and prosperity of the nation," he said.
In the ceremony this time, UGM also invited teachers to witness, represented by heads of elementary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Yogyakarta. They were the Principal of SD Mangunan, Bantul, SD Babarsari, Sleman, SD Muhammadiyah Sapen, Yogyakarta; SMP Bogem, Sleman; SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Yogyakarta; SMP N 1 Samigaluh, Kulonprogo; SMA N 1 Dlingo, Bantul, Yogyakarta SMA BOPKRI 2; SMA N 1 Pakem, Sleman, and SMA 1 Kalasan, Sleman.
