Universitas Gadjah Mada held an open house event at the Hall of Central Building on Wednesday (15/9). The hospitality event was attended by thousands of academicians, starting at around 08:45 and ending at 9:30 pm.
UGM academic community who want to meet and greet with the UGM leaders had to stand in line. The line extended to more than 50 meters. They patiently waited to get a turn to shake hands and say Eid Mubarak.
Vivie Soelistiyo, one of the staff from LPPM UGM who is in the front row of the line admitted to have intentionally come early for a handshake. "I’ve come early this morning," said Vivie who came with a group of staff.
Visitors met and greeted with the leaders of UGM. After the handshake ritual, they were treated to a variety of snacks.
Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M. Eng., Ph.D., in his speech, extended his Eid greetings, asking for apologies for mistakes made in the past. "On behalf of the leadership of the Universitas Gadjah Mada, I personally extend my apology for any mistakes made in the past," said the Rector who was wearing a gray batik. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Tri Murniningsih Sudjarwadi. The Rector also expressed apologies on behalf of his family because he has not yet had time to reply to all text messages that wish them a blessed Eid.
Also seen present were the chairman of the Council of Professors, Prof. Drs. Suryo Guritno, M. Stats, Ph.D., Chairman of the Academic Senate, Prof. dr. Marsetyawan HNES, M.Sc., Ph.D., and University and Faculty senior leaders.
