YOGYAKARTA-Research institutions at the level of faculties such as PPA (Accounting), PPE (Economics), PPM (management) and similar activities, such as CGCG (Center of Good Corporate Governance), Tax Center, Sharia Center, the SME Center and language training center will soon be merged into a new research institute by the name of P2EB (Research and Training of Economics and Business).
The P2EB will be launched later to coincide with the National Seminar on "Study on the Indonesian Economy: Macro, Fiscal, and Micro Perspectives" to commemorate the 55th Anniversary of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM. The seminar participants include students, academicians, entrepreneurs, analysts and members of the public.
"In the national seminar, the new research institute (P2EB) will be launched," explained the Director of P2EB UGM, Anggito Abimanyu, on Tuesday (21/9).
Anggito added that the focus of study taken by the P2EB has not been done so far by other research institutions, which includes climate change, sharia economy, public policy and SME and aspects of governance in public and private sectors. Some of them are mainstream topics that become important themes in global and national economic changes.
"The mainstream topics will be much discussed in the seminar," he said.
Anggito exemplified the mainstream topics such as rice import policy due to limited rice stocks and expensive cost due to the uncertain climate up to Indonesia’s policy on sharia economy that has not been maximized. Especially on sharia economy, Anggito urged UGM to develop a department/concentration as well as its human resources.
"We admit that UGM has not had or even does not have such study program or experts," Anggito said.
The event to be held on 23 September will present speakers, such as former vice-president Jusuf Kalla, and Minister of Economy, Hatta Radjasa. In addition, there are UGM alumni, such as Budi Rochadi (Deputy Governor of Bank of Indonesia), Mardiasmo (Head of BPKP), Prasetyono Malangyudo (Deputy Head of Bappenas), Khresno Sediarsi (Director of Mandiri Bank), Anies Baswedan (Paramadina Rector), Freddy Saragih (Ministry of Finance), Hendry Saparini (Econit) and other lecturers. "The talk show is scheduled to be attended also by former Vice President Jusuf Kalla and Coordinating Minister of Economyc Hatta Radjasa," Anggito added.
