Indonesian Society for Cancer Chemoprevention (ISCC) held at the inaugural congress today, Friday (8 / 10) at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM approved the Articles of Association and Bylaws and discussed the long-term and short-term programs to overcome the problem of cancer. This is in line with government programs that are supported by the Ministry of Health. ISCC is an organization that focuses to assess cancer chemoprevention problems in Indonesia and was established on May 12, 2010.
The congress was attended by representatives from the ISCC branches throughout Indonesia. Representatives were present from ITB, UI, Airlangga University, University of Hasanuddin, Universitas Andalas, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Universitas Pancasila, University YARSI, Tanjungpura University, University General Sudirman, Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, and Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. Representatives from LIPI, BPPT, and Stem Cell Institute (SCI) were also present.
Dr. Edy Meiyanto, M.Sc., Apt., Chairman of the ISCC’s central executive board, said that the ISCC will also hold an international seminar entitled "Chemoprevention for Health Promotion and Beauty" on Saturday (9/10), at the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM. "This seminar is expected to be the initial momentum of establishment of information and update on the latest research developments in the field of chemoprevention, especially for health and cancer prevention in Indonesia," said Vice Dean of Alumni Affairs, Student Affairs, and International Cooperation of Faculty of Pharmacy UGM.
Minister of Health of Indonesia is scheduled to attend and give a keynote speech in the seminar. The seminar also presents several sources, among others, Prof. Hiroshi Itoh and Prof. Tatsuo Takeya (NAIST, Japan), Prof. Dr. Evamarie Hey Hawkins (Leipizg University, Germany), Prof. Dr. Sri Nugrahati, Apt. and Dr. Med. Dr. Indwiani Astuti (UGM).
Edy Meiyanto conveyed that the seminar is a collaboration between the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM with Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, Deutsher Akademischer Austausch Deinst -Germany Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and ISCC.
