On October 11, 2010, Faculty of Geography welcomed the visit made by Rector of Cologne University of Applied Science (CUAS) Germany, Prof.Dr. Joachim Metzner, Director of CUAS International Affairs, Ms. Elisabeth Holluscha and Prof.Dr. Michael Sturm from CUAS Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering. The delegation of CUAS was received by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Suratman, M.Sc., Deputy Dean I, Drs. Sukamdi, M. Sc, Chief Coordinator of CNRD Indonesia (Center for Natural Resources of Development), Prof. Dr. Junun Sartohadi, M. Sc, and the Chairman and Secretary of Foreign Cooperation Bureau of the Faculty, Dr. Muh. Aris Marfai M. Sc and Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko.
Ritmaleni, Ari Simbara, Eti N. Sholikah, and Sardjiman from UGM were selected as some of award recipients after the presentation of research results entitled "Synthesis of Tetrahydropentagavunon-0 (THPGV-0) and Its Potent Antioxidant Activity" at the University Club, UGM, Wednesday (7 / 10). Award and money were handed over by Prof. Dr. Henk Timmerman and witnessed by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, UGM, Prof. Dr. Marchaban, DESS, Apt., along with some invited guests.
Marchaban explained that this award was the second time after that in 2007 at LIPI, Jakarta . "This award was proposed by  Prof. Henk Timmerman. After retiring, he proposed to LIPI (LIPI Chairman at the time) to give this award," he explained.
According to Marchaban, Prof. Timmerman is credited person who introduced medicinal chemistry. Since coming to UGM 25 years ago, Prof. Timmerman introduced a new science called farmako chemistry to many people. "It has been taught everywhere, through courses and training, in which all costs and equipment were from Vrije University Netherlands. At that time, Prof. Timmerman was the Head of Farmako Chemistry," explained Marchaban.
It is expected that this cooperation will continue and produce outputs that are useful for the progress of Universitas Gadjah Mada and in particular for Faculty of Geography.
