After the success of last year’e event, this year UGM once again will hold Gama Fest. In contrast to the last year’s event that incorporated the Gelanggang Expo (Gelex) and Education Fair events, this time it will present performance arts and food bazaar located in the yard of the Center for Population and Policy Studies (PSKK) and the Center for Rural and Regional Studies (PSPK) UGM. "The Gama Fest will be held on the upcoming October 30 in a different format than the previous year," said Dini, one staff of the International Affairs Office UGM, Wednesday (27/10).
Dini said Gama Fest is an annual event which aims to introduce arts and culinary richness from the original countries of UGM international students. The food bazaar will be joined by 30 booths from countries of international students and several provinces in Indonesia. "They will present their typical food," he added.
Meanwhile, participants come from, among others, Germany, Thailand, the Netherlands, Laos, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, France, Spain, U.S., South Korea, Myanmar, Norway, Malaysia, Australia, Middle East, Europe, and Africa. In addition, several provinces will enliven this event, including Jakarta, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, East Nusa Tenggara, West Java, Lampung, West Sumatra, East Java and East Kalimantan.
Dini added that to introduce the original arts of the country of UGM international students, some students will display art performances on Gelex stage at Food Court Plaza UGM from 28-29 October 2010 at 17:00 to 21:00 hours. "Special for the Gama Fest, students from Thailand, Myanmar and Spain will be performing on Gama Fest stage on Saturday (30/10)," said Dini.
This event is open to the public and as a replacement for ticket; visitors are required to donate a minimum of 500’s coins. The money raised will be donated to survivors of flood in Wasior, Papua.
