PT Sun Life Financial (SLF) Indonesia once again provides scholarships to ten UGM students. The Sun Bright Scholarship Program was handed over by the Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications SLF Indonesia, Kumala Ruslie, accompanied by the Director of Student Affairs UGM, Drs. Haryanto, M.Sc., and Wahyu Irawanto, Deputy-Head of Agency of SLF Indonesia, on Friday (3/12) at UGM. "I would like to thank PT Sun Life Indonesia for their great attention to education. It proved that PT Sun Life pays attention to preparing future generations," said Drs. Haryanto, M.Sc., in his speech.
PT Sun Life Indonesia has provided scholarships to UGM students since year 2006. For this time, PT SLF Indonesia increased the fund by five hundred thousand rupiah each. "Between 2006 – 2009 the amount of the scholarship was one million and five hundred thousands rupiah per student per semester, this year they will receive up to two million rupiah per semester," he said.
In his message, he reminded the students to be able to maintain their academic achievement. Otherwise, PT SLF Indonesia will stop the scholarship. "Like chickens, if they don’t lay eggs, they are slaughtered," he said in a joking tone.
PT SLF Indonesia offered cooperation in other forms. Those would provide benefits collectively. "Cooperation with universities can develop all components. Student recipients may want to do an internship in PT SLF Indonesia," he added.
On the other hand, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications of SLF Indonesia, Kumala Ruslie, welcomed this because their CSR program has always focused on education as this can become a tool that helps young people have a better life. PT SLF Indonesia also prepares the younger generation in other areas. "Our CSR activities focus on education. The donation can come in the form of tools, learning facilities ranging from elementary to university level," she said.
