UGM’s Gama Cendikia student unit managed to achieve brilliant achievement at the national level. This time, members of the Gama Cendikia won the first and favorite winners in the Sports Industry Student Scientific Research Competition 2011 held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Republic of Indonesia. The activities were held from 6-8 September 2011 in Jakarta.
Imam Hanafi and Dianita Dwi Sugiartanti successfully won the first prize thanks to a research titled Anti-free radicals T-shirt (CONTRAST) Media to Prevent Free Radicals of Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Indonesian Athletes. While the favorite winner is won by Fathur Rahman H, Imam Abror, Imam Hanafi and Dianita Dwi Sugiartanti with the title Innovation of Black Pepper Spray Herb (Piper nigrum) as Balsam Alternative Substitute For Effort to Overcome Pain of Athletes in Indonesia.
Abror, who also serves as Gama Cendikia’s Head of Research Department mentions that in the competition Gama Cendikia Student Unit sent three research works. The three works were able to pass until the final stages to compete with 22 other research work from several universities in Indonesia. The awards were given directly by Prof. Dr. dr. James Tangkudung, Spormed., M.Pd. deputy chief of Sports Culture, Ministry of Youth and Sports, on Thursday, September 8, 2011. "With this award, we hope to be able to encourage the achievement of UGM students, especially members of the Gama Cendikia Student Unit to participate in the research and scientific work competition to welcome the UGM as a World Class Research University", Imam Abror concluded.
