Organizational membership behavior is one important mediator in the relationship among spiritual leadership, open organizational culture, spiritual work climate and performance. This behavior can be developed by strengthening the spiritual leadership that builds an open organizational culture and spiritual work climate. Spiritual leadership is an ethical and universal leadership.
That was delivered by Dra. Nilam Widyarini, M.Si., in her open examination of Doctoral Program, Friday (14/10), at UGM Faculty of Psychology. On that occasion, Nilam defended her dissertation entitled Organizational Membership Behavior and Performance in Task with Spiritual Leadership Predictors, Spiritual Work Climate and Open Organizational Culture.
The member of faculty of Gunadarma University mentioned that spiritual leadership which is developed holds fast to the spiritual values of the spiritual leadership function. The development can be enhanced effectively through special coaching for management level which is facilitated by professionals who have high concerns in terms of spiritual leadership. "Remembering the ethical and universal nature of spiritual leadership, spiritual leadership needs to be developed in business organization as well as in other organizations and to be a leader who is able in developing spiritual skills, someone firstly needs to explore and actualize his/her ethical and universal personal values so they are able to evoke the spirit of the people they lead," the lady born in Solo on August 27, 1962 said.
Further Nilam said, in the business world, especially in profit oriented companies, the strong link between company’s performance and employees is often ignored. The company that is managed with such a view tends to be easily abandoned. "Companies are often unaware that to develop employee’s performance needs human resource management practices ethically," Nilam said.
Citing Hoftman et al. (2006), Nilam said that organizational membership behavior is proved strong in influencing the performance in carrying out the duty. From a number of conditions, leadership is one of the factors that determine the performance. "To produce ethical behavior of employees, certainly, also needs ethical leadership," she explained.
