Rector of UGM, Prof. Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc.Sc, confirmed UGM’s commitment in distributing research findings to society and industry. The distributed findings will give many benefits that do not stop inside the campus only. With such commitment, UGM reinforced several existing units, such as incubation or business development.
“Let’s not make the research findings stay as a prototype for 20 years,” Pratikno said in the inauguration of Pertamina Tower in Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, Wednesday (20/3). Pertamina’s Director, Karen Agustiawan, also witnessed the event.
Pratikno added UGM has many researchers whose works can be used by industry sector. Pratikno was optimistic that UGM graduates have excellence and spirit of struggle. The knowledge and research that are produced can be used to give advocacy on government policy.
“Knowledge, thinking and research from UGM are expected to support government policy. Therefore, we’re very open for the industry to play their role,” he added.
Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, Prof. Dr. Wihana Kirana Jaya, M.Soc.Sc., the Pertamina Tower building would become the training ground for researchers and lecturers to be able to have discussions or conduct researches.
Karen Agustiawan in her remarks said that the construction of Pertamina Tower at UGM was the commitment of Pertamina in assisting education field.
“I hope this will benefit and support UGM programmes as excellent university in Indonesia,” said Karen.
The event was marked with plaque signing by Karen Agustiawan, the Dean and Prof. Lincoln Arsyad, M.Sc, witnessed by the Rector. It was followed by a talkshow entitled Energizing Asia: Becoming Leader of Energy Business by 2025, and ended with tree planting.
