YOGYAKARTA – Supramolecul chemistry and nanotechnology are new technologies that have been developed successfully by men. Nanotechnology has even become an important part in human lives as it is used for medical purposes, electronics and new materials development.
A nanotechnology researcher from University of Sydney Australia, Prof. Leonard F. Lindoy, said nanotechnology would become an important part in driving world economic growth in the future. The man born in Wolongong, New South Wales, assessed Indonesia as having great potential in natural resources, supported by intelligent and talented men that have to have good command of nanotechnology.
“This is a prerequisite if you want to contribute to the science revolution, not only becoming a user,” Prof. Leonard said in the open lecture entitled Knowledge Partnership in UC UGM, Monday (2/12).
In his presentation entitled Art, Architecture and Engineering at the Molecular Level – the Rise of the Supermolecule and Nanotechnology, Leonard explained nanotechnology is a high level technology at present. Even nanoparticle and nanocomposite have been developed to help water treatment process, polymer composite material, metal and carbon to produce new materials. “Those are all adjusted to the need such as for aircraft construction and tissue engineering in medical applications,” he said.
