UGM’s Marching Band has won the second place winner in the Grand Prix Marching Band XXlX 2013. The competition was run from 27-29 Decembar 2013 in the Senayan stadium, Jakarta. Grand Prix Marching Band 2013 was joined by 24 teams from government institutions, companies and education institutions. It was divided into two categories, general (10 teams) and lst division (14 teams).
Chairperson of UGM’s team, Linda Juanita Sitoresmi, said in the competition they carried the theme Papua: Mutiara Hitam dari Timur, performing songs “Yamko Rambe Yamko” and “Sabang sampai Merauke”. As many as 170 members took part in the competition, including 63 officials.
The UGM team competed with other 9 teams in the general category. “The hard work and long exercise have yielded results. We’re very proud with the win,” he said on Thursday (9/1) on campus. The first winner was from Chevron.
Linda said they had prepared themselves for the last one year, practising six hours a day. Training camp and quarantine were also held to strengthen their abilities and solidarity.
Yanuar Riansyah Effendi, the Public Relations officer, said in Grand Prix 2013 the team had won a number of awards, namely second place in Field Commander, second place in Color Guard Division, second place in Visual Effect, second place in General Effect, and third place in Pit Percussion.
