YOGYAKARTA – Computer Science students of UGM have developed a method to get information related to disaster mitigation. The Quick Disaster visual and audio based application will display disaster anticipation steps including during volcanic eruption, landslide, tornado, earthquake, volcanic ashfall, flood, fire, and tsunami. The app can only be accessed through Google Glass though.
A member of the team, Daniel Oscar Baskoro, told journalists that they opted for Google Glass as their information is quicker to display and concise. “We were thinking this digital app will one day be worn on human body such as smart clock or smart bracelet,” said Daniel. His fellow students joining the team are Zamsyari, Bahrunur, Sabrina Anggraini, and Maulana Rizki.
According to Sabrina Anggraini, this tool is expected to be able to help the people prepare when disasters strike.
Currently, the Quick Disaster app is being developed whilst some features have yet to be improved. In the near future, the app will be presented in international conferences.
