The Biotronic team from Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM won first place in the National Electronic Creation competition in the Green Energy Inovation category that last from 24-25 May 2014 in Surabaya. The team consists of Fathi Alfinur Rizqi, Rahmawati, and Jaza’an Aufa, supervised by Murtiningrum, M.Eng., and technical supervisor Dualim Atma Dewangga. The Biotronic beat 50 teams from various universities in the country. The team raised the theme of research “Smart Combined Irrigation System: Aumatomation System of Irrigation for Coastal Areas as Water Saving Based on Micro-controller in Samas Beach, Srandakan, Bantul, Yogyakarta”.
According to Fathi Alfinur Rizqi, Smart Combine Irrigation System is an irrigation system that combines drip irrigation and sprinkle irrigation that can be applied automatically in Samas. This is applied there to meet the needs of plants in line with the goals to achieve.
“The principle is to save water because the use of drilling wells on the beach may cause seawater nutrition to pollute groundwater,” said Fathi on Thursday (12/6) at UGM.
The sprinkle system aims at washing salts so the toxic nature of salt in the plant can be hampered to affect. They use tools such as humidity sensor, salt sensor, waterpipes, and ATMega 16 micro-controller as the main controller.
“For the longer term, the system will yield benefits, including increase of agricultural productions,” he concluded.
