After participating in the International Dance Workshop at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia, in March 2014, Rampoe UGM, an art community focusing on Aceh dance, has once again represented Indonesia and Southeast Asia in a cultural mission in Europe in June 2014 for almost three weeks during the Festival Mondial De Folklore De La Ville De Saint Ghislain in Belgium and the Festi’roche-Roche La Moliere in France.
As many as 22 team members performed the Ratoeh Pukat dance, Ratoeh Duek dance, Saman Gayo dance, and Rapa’i Geleng dance.
Dudung Abdulah, a member, said at the Festival Mondial De Folklore De La Ville De Saint Ghislain, delegates from Belgium, Brasil, Ireland, Mexico, Mongolia, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraina also joined the event. The UGM team finally was entitled to have a tour package prize to Mons and Square of Brussel.
“Devdy Risa, Second Secretary from the Indonesian Embassy, came to see them and watch the performance. He expressed his pride of the students performing the spectacular dances whilst appreciating the UGM team that had the chance to perform in a European stage,” said Dudung Abdullah on campus, Tuesday (22/7).
During the Festi’roche-Roche La Moliere in France, the UGM team performed the same dances. The event was also joined by delegates from Mexico, Mongolia, Russia, France, and Poland. The UGM team was entitled to have a tour package award to Lake Saint Victor.
