YOGYAKARTA – The Faculty of Medicine team from Universitas Gadjah Mada has become the overall winner of the Indonesian Medical Olympiad (IMO) atUniversitas Andalas, Padang, from 27-30 November, earning 2 gold and 1 silver medals.
IMO is a competition hosted by Association of Indonesian Medical Student Senates. This year it gave competitions for medical branches, including Cardiorspiratory, Digestion, Urogenital-reproduction, Infection, Neuro-psychiatry, and Musculoskeletal, joined by no less than 40 universities, such as UI, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Airlangga, USU, Universitas Hassanudin, and Universitas Brawijaya.
The team consisted of Irfan Haris, Muhammad Ramadhan Al Reno, Nurkholis Bramantyo, Eric, Yosua Anthony Putra, Lilie Fransiska, M Fahmi Rosyidi, Regina Arumsari, Stevanie, Gusti Made Ary Harthana, Syahru Agung Setiawan, and Ahmad Heri Setiawan, and supervisor dr. Ludhang Pradipta, Mbiotech.
Irfan Haris told journalists (2/12) that this time UGM won the overall winner for the first time.
Haris said the students in the competition had to have good command of basic theories and clinical practice. The most challenging test was the practicum as they had to answer questions in 45 seconds.
Supervisor Ludhang Pradipta said the students joining the team had been selected and trained for 3 months in advance.
