Universitas Gadjah Mada students joining the NextIn Indonesia group have presented the LexiPal application to some education and health agencies. LexiPal is a learning application that helps children with dyslexia.
According to their spokesperson, Muhammad Risqi Utama Saputra, the app is mostly for 5-7 year old children having dyslexia. The app has been developed by NextIn Indonesia in cooperation with Association of Indonesian Dyslexia (ADI), supported by Mandiri Bank.
Risqi said the app encourages children to study through the 12 app contents including shape and pattern, similarities and differences, short term memory, object association, perception of direction, activity order, orientation of place, concept of time, social skills, alphabets, syllables, words, and simple sentences.
He added in January 2013, his team won second place in the 2nd Mandiri Young Technopreneur Award, making them entitled for project capital from the Bank to improve the app and apply it at institutions.
“From October-November 2014, LexiPal has been applied and presented to Indigrow Child Development Center (Bandung), SD Pantara (Jakarta), and Melinda 2 Hospital (Bandung). The app will be released by end of December 2014,” he said.
Chairperson of ADI, dr. Kristiantini Dewi, Sp.A, said they found the app very useful whilst the app has been validated by the Association.
